-Keywords
-MetaTags
-Metadescriptions
-Spiders
-Robots
Many people feel weighed down when they hear these terms. Let me give you a quick description of each of these things and then the reason why you wont have to worry about these terms if you know a couple tricks and secrets about the web.
-Metatags: Words embedded in your page that explain to viewers and search engine automatons about the information on your page.
-Metadescriptions: Similar to metatags but in the form of a sentence and can possibly be used on search engines as your site description
-Keywords: Words used in your metas and text on your site describing what you are offering
-Spiders/Robots: Miniprograms sent out by search engines to automatically browse web pages and categorize sites by keywords
-SEO: Search engine optimization, which refers to your site having the right keywords and structure in order to be classified correctly by the spiders and robots
Now, why this information really isn't that important. It's outdated.
Metas were developed back when search engines first came about and weren't very powerful so your content could be placed in the correct category by search engines. They found that many corrupt webmasters would load their metas with popular keywords in order to rank high. The content on the page really didn't coincide with what they were putting in the metas.
This is now considered search engine spam because it works the same way and is almost as useful.
Today, the spiders don't pay very much attention to the metas. They focus more on the keywords in your content, as well as the grammatical structure of the information your website contains.
Soon, the spiders will be able to tell whether your site is actually rational. They look for sites that are constantly updated and do not just remain still year after year with no updates. They want new, fresh information on a regular basis.
Your customers want the same thing. Good content on a regular basis. There is a little trick that will satisfy both the customer and the search engine inexpensively. The answer is good articles that contain information about what you have to offer, rotated on a regular basis.
So, what you need to remember is to keep it fresh. Keep it interesting. And get those customers attention and give them what they want. Before you know it you'll be at the top of the search engine and collecting more and more money. And overall, have fun doing it.
