Traffic From Blog Comments - 5 Ways to Make Blog Commenting Worth Your While

You've probably heard about blog commenting. But is traffic you get that way really worth the trouble? Will you get much -- or even any -- traffic from blog comments?

Well, that depends on where you leave your comments, and how much you do it. Provided you do a significant amount of commenting on a regular basis, it can pay off very nicely. Read on for five ways in which leaving comments on other people's blogs can result in more traffic for you:

1) People will read your comments on other people's blogs and might investigate what else you've written -- on YOUR blog.

2) If you regularly leave insightful comments on blogs in your niche, people will start to recognize you and see you as an authority. And yes, they'll visit you too.

3) The person whose blog you commented on may return the favor -- and maybe give you a link, or even write a post about you sometime.

4) You might even find yourself with a new potential JV partner -- or a new friend.

5) You might also get backlinks from your comments. If you do, they will give you a boost in Google's search results. The trouble is that many blogs have so-called nofollow and noindex tags. But not all spiders let that stop them. And it definitely won't stop any readers from following your links to your own blog or website. There are also blogs that have dofollow tags. Make sure to seek those out and make them a regular part of your blog commenting routine.

Now that we have established that it's definitely worth your while to comment on blogs, how do you find the right blogs?

Start by going for the biggest ones in your niche first, and then work your way down to the smaller ones.

Where will you find them? On Google, of course. Just Google your keywords, add "blog," and then work your way down the results.

There's another cool Google tool that will simplify the process even more: Google Alerts. Just ask to be alerted to any mentions of your keywords. The majority of the listings you'll get will be blogs.

Some people say you shouldn't bother commenting on blogs unless they have a high page rank. My take on this: don't be a snob! You never know what else that person has up his or her sleeve. Or how big they may become in short order. Play nice, be generous, and traffic from those blog comments will come back to reward you.
