Build Up Traffic to Your Website With These Simple Ideas

A friend of mine recently launched his new website on vegetable gardening. He came to me with questions as to how he can promote it without spending loads of money (that he didn't have) on advertising he couldn't afford.

I told him there are many ways to do it and they all work, but if you do not have the means to track where your visitors are coming from then you will never know which method is working best. After seeing the puzzled look on his face after telling him that, I explained further.

Before you engage in any type of marketing routine for your website have you installed the Google analytics code on it? He said not, then I told him how to do it. You register for your free account with Google and head to the analytics page they have., enter your website information and then copy and paste the code they give you onto the pages of your site.

With Google analytics set up I told him he was ready to continue on. The first step I told him he should take is to start a blog on the subject. Since he enjoys vegetable gardening there is plenty he can write about which creates content that people are looking for. Better yet there are a variety of free blog hosting sites out there and of course blog software that can be installed on his own website if he chooses to host it there.

I then directed him to a website called Technorati. This is a website where you can post your blog with other blogs in the "blogosphere". Again it is free to join, you then "claim" your blog and post it in their database where other bloggers will find it and read it.

With the Technorati account created I told him to take one morning out of each week and call it "Technorati time". This is when he searches for blogs that are like his, visits them, reads their articles and adds useful comments to them on the subject matter. Most blogs allow people who leave comments to also leave their website and/or blog web address. Cha Ching! More free publicity!

I then told him it is time to join Twitter, Facebook and MySpace where you will make friends in these social networks with people that enjoy vegetable gardening. You won't spam them, but every time you write a new post to your blog your will add it to the bulletin on MySpace and on your wall in Facebook so your friends can see it and post a quick tweet on Twitter.

Last but not least you will conduct a daily article marketing regimen. I have written many articles on article marketing and the positive affects it has on attracting visitors to websites so I referred him to those articles.

I am happy to report that after being online for a month, his website went from zero visitors to nearly a thousand visitors per day and he says he is having so much fun doing it. He has met a bunch of people with similar gardening interests and they exchange ideas and tips all the time. They even give each other blurbs on their blogs.

His goal is to reach 5000 daily visitors by the end of the year and at the rate he is going there is no reason to not believe the man. He works hard following the tips and ideas above and it is working famously for him and they will for you also.
