Things to Not Do to Get Traffic to Your Sites

If you have a website one of the toughest things to do is to get traffic to them. There are plenty of articles out there telling you all the things that you need to do if you want more traffic. I thought it would be nice to speak on what NOT to do if you want to get and keep people coming to your website.

Do not make it hard to get around your website

The first thing would be to not make it so stinking hard to get around your site. I can not tell you the amount of times I have gone to a website and had to look for the things that I wanted to look at. Sometimes even the buy key is hiding from me. So please if you want traffic to your website and you want to keep that traffic coming back then make navigating your website easy and enjoyable. For most people are not patient and if they cannot find what they want right away, you know what they do? Yeup, they leave!

Do not ignore your visitor's suggestions and questions

Remember without visitors to your website, there really is no reason to have a website. That and you will never make any money online. Never disregard or ignore a comment or a question. Part of having a website is to build a relationship and that means they need to trust you. Would you trust someone that never pays attention to what you say? If they criticize your site, tell them thank you and you will look into it. You don't have to get all huffy and defensive.

Do not fill your site with advertising

No one really likes going to a site that is filled with advertising banners and ads. It is too busy to look at and most people will just leave. People like neat and tidy websites that they can find easily the things they want to find. Plus if you have ads on your site make sure that they are relative to your niche. Do not sell dog food on a make money site.

Do not plagiarize your content

Your site should be full of information that is unique. The articles and opinions that you give out should be your own. You don't want your site penalized either due to duplication. If people come to your site and see the same old content they have seen forever then they will leave and not come back. It is good to have quotes and even visiting authors but make sure to give credit where credit is due.

Do not have links that are broken

Have you ever gone to a site read the information and then pushed on the link that says if you want to read more and you get a bad link? What a waste of time that is! Make sure that when your site is up and running all the links work. Dead links might make people think that you are no longer running your site, so they leave and don't come back.
